National High Council for Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption was established on 17 August 2016 following Presidential Decree 94. The Council enforces rule of law, strengthens and reforms the judicial system, addresses issues related to observance human rights and ensuring of justice. The Council is also vested with the responsibility of reforming rules and legislative documents pertinent to objectives of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Another goal for which the Council is established is to initiate effective and firm counter-corruption actions.
